10 step healthy weight loss plan
With one third of all American adults now classified as obese, it’s clear that it’s never too late to start a weight loss plan and take the steps to achieving healthy weight loss, without the need to go on quick fix diet solutions that may not achieve the results you want.
Hollywood manifests unachievable expectations of what a weight loss plan involves, with many celebrities like Heidi Klum, Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Osbourne shedding weight very quickly, particularly once they’ve had a baby.
As consumers we’re inundated with the different types of weight loss plans that are out there, from 50 Cent’s liquid diet to Jennifer Aniston’s rumored baby food diet, but studies have shown that 8 out of 10 diets don’t actually work.
That’s why we’ve done some research and have come up with a 10 Step Healthy Weight Loss Plan to help you achieve your weight loss goals:
Don’t Count Calories:
Most nutrionists will tell you to not count the calories in your weight loss plan, but rather replace the processed and fast foods with fresh fruit and vegetables and more natural products. It’s not how many calories that are in your food that counts, but how many nutrients.
Eat Smaller Portions:
As portion sizes increased over the years, waistlines went up too. Part of achieving healthy weight loss is to monitor the amount of food you’re eating. Specialists in the weight loss field suggest using smaller plates to trick your mind into thinking you’re eating more! Also, when dining out, order a starter instead of an entree or split a meal with a friend or partner.
Drink More Water:
During our research for our 10 Step Healthy Weight Loss Plan, one recurring tip we’ve found is to drink more water. Sometimes hunger pains are simply your body craving water. Have a glass or two of H2O and watch your hunger subside!
Juices:
While we’re on the subject of liquids, drink healthier juices. Just because it says it’s Fruit Juice on the container, that doesn’t mean it’s good for you! Most juices on the store shelves are equal to soft drinks in their overall sugar content. Dilute them with water or squeeze juice yourself, or better yet, replace it with water. Also, lay off the soft drink!
If God Made It:
A nutritionist told us that he has a theory: “If God made it, you can eat it.” This means that processed foods are going to be man made and will almost certainly be high in fat, sugar, sodium and chemicals to help it taste the way it does. Fresh is best!
Think About It:
Another key to a healthy weight loss plan is to think about what you are buying. Look at the products, study the ingredients and look up healthy meals that you would like to eat and buy the appropriate ingredients. Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean it can’t be tasty. There are tonnes of websites with healthy recipe suggestions that can assist with your weight loss plan.
Plan Ahead:
For a weight loss plan to work, you need to make things easy to help you succeed. Plan your food ahead. Plan your snacks and meals and then purchase the ingredients and have them ready for when they’re needed. By being unprepared, the temptation to hit the local take-away shop increases and this won’t help you achieve your weight loss goals!
Don’t Sit Still:
We know it’s the dreaded “E” word, but along with a weight loss plan, Exercise will help you with healthy weight loss. A 30-minute walk per day is all that’s required. Set yourself a playlist of your favorite songs on your iPod and walk until they run out. Think about it: 30 minutes is only 6 or 7 songs! Pick up the phone and call a friend, or better still, rope them in for the walk too! There are many ways to make exercise less of a chore and part of your daily routine.
Know Your Limits:
If you know that chocolate cake is your vice, eat well for the week and treat yourself with a piece of cake at the weekend. You can’t punish yourself during your weight loss plan because otherwise you’ll never maintain it. Know your limitations and help yourself to achieve these goals. Just because it’s not good, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them, it’s all about moderation and rewarding yourself for achieving your goals.
