Adam Lambert says his controversial American Music Awards performance was a one-off and from this point on he is switching up his style.
Reaching out to his Twitter base, the American Idol runner up wrote, “AMA performance was a one time event. Goin in a new direction now. Focus back on the music.”
He added, “Don’t worry friends: I’m still gonna be me. Always. W/o appologies. Just gonna experiment differently w how I present myself. I’m learning.”

Adam, just this morning I was wishing you would change the way you were going. I was hoping it would be soon, like within a year or two. When I came home to my computer and brought up your twitter, I was and am beyond happy to read this message. Once we're in your heart, you have us always.

Adam, I am one of your most devorted fans! Not ONLY because of your gifted voice, but your honest , articulate and polite attitude with everyone including your detractors. I have been fascinated by your intelligent, calmed and polite answers during American Idol and the many interviews or impromtu questions you have answered. It is refreshing to see a young man with so many positive qualities to show his love for his mother in public. As Cindy said earlier, this AMA event is one of many learning experiences…move on and continue entertaining. I love your vulnerability…
