Following Steve Tyler’s massive fall off the stage on August 5 during a performance in Dakota, Aerosmith have been forced to cancel the remainder of the summer tour, the band said Friday (August 14).
“Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour,” Joe Perry said in the statement on the band’s website.
Tyler, who broke his left shoulder and required 20 stiches after the fall, said that a thunderstorm wasn’t going to stop him from performing the show.
“Well, I wasn’t gonna go hide under the big top and play ‘ROCK STAR’ and wait for everything to be fixed,” he explained. “I wanted to go out to the crowd to continue the show… I just want to say that I’ m plain grateful that I didn’t break my neck.”
