Alleged Travolta Extortionist: I’m Innocent

January 25th, 2009

One of the three people held over an alleged plot to extort money from John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, has claimed her innocence saying her actions were “misconstrued”.

Family lawyers for the Travolta’s, who are still grieiving the death of their 16-year-old son, said in a statement on January 21, “Regrettably in a time of such terrible grief there are often a few individuals who attempt to make false claims in hopes of making millions of dollars.  We will never let that happen.”

Three people have been detained by police for questioning regarding the alleged extortion, with Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater arrested for abetment and conspiracy to extort, saying she will fight the “untrue and unfair charges”.

“How these innocent actions can be so misconstrued, so perversely twisted to mean something other than it was, is a mystery,” she explained.

Ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne and former Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe have also been questioned by authorities, with Wilchcombe being released.
