American Idol’s David Archuleta Signs Record Deal

June 5th, 2008

David Archuleta has signed a recording deal, and despite being the runner up in the 2008 ‘American idol’ contest, says this year is "truly a dream come true".

The 17-year-old lost out to David Cook in the grand final of the hit reality show, however, 19 Recordings/Jive Records and ‘Idol’ creator Simon Fuller says that Archuleta is "a genuine pop star" and offered him a deal.

Archuleta released a statement on Thursday (June 5) saying, "Signing a contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true. I’m really excited to start working on everything."
