Australian Media Attacks Britney Spears’ First Show

britney-spears-circus-promo-jiveThe Australian media have been fishing for headlines all week to keep Britney Spears on the front page of their newspapers and websites, with the latest claiming the popstar is “holed up in Perth hotel after concert shame.”

britney-spears-circus-promo-jiveAccording to News.com.au, “Fans walked out after only three songs at Perth’s Burswood Dome on Friday, upset by her lacklustre performance,” adding that “the row over her lip-synching concerts threatened to derail her Australian tour.”

Spears’ manager, Adam Leber, responded to the criticism on Twitter writing, “It’s unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn’t enjoy the show last night.  Fortunately the other 18, 272 fans in attendance did.”

It was reported this week that Australian authorities are looking at implementing a warning system on concert promotions, notifying fans that the artist plans to lip-sync during the show, with Spears being used as the example.

“Burswood Entertainment Complex is proud to host the Britney Spears ‘Circus’ concert tour in Burswood Dome,” a statement released by her Australian publicists said.  “Last night’s concert (Friday) saw record crowds turn out for her first performance in Perth and from Burswood’s perspective the event was a huge success.

It adds, “Early media reports that hundreds of fans left the concert early cannot be substantiated and Burswood has received no complaints about the concert.”
