Avril Lavigne’s upcoming Malaysian concert has been canceled by the country’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry after protests deemed the show “too sexy.”
The popstar was set to kick-off her Asian tour in Kuala Lumpur on August 29, two days before their independence day, with the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party opposed to the concert.
“It is considered too sexy for us.” Kamarulzaman Mohamed told The Associated Press. “It’s not good for viewers in Malaysia. We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models.”
Following a decision by the culture ministry on Tuesday (August 19), Shukran Ibrahim announced, “It is not timely. It’s not in the good spirit of our National Day. If we go ahead with the concert, it is contrary to what we are preparing for.

Clap Clap Clap, What a shame other countries have a higher standard or morals then we do over here. I think it sends a signal to us to start cleaning up our acts. Bravo I say.

Please get the facts straight. Concert was canceled due to it being “not in the good spirit of our National Day” and not for being “too sexy.”
The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party has a long history of protesting concerts/events by not just singers but sport teams as well. So far, their protest has not led to any events being canceled here and I don’t see it as the case here.

The “jihad party” aka Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party has won again, unfortunately. ALL Malaysians have to admit this. Even the neighbouring Indonesian superstar was not allowed to perform, even though she is Muslim, why? because she’s TOO sexy!
