Chinese actress Bai Ling has been formerly charged with petty theft for allegedly shoplifting a pack of batteries and a handful of magazines at Los Angeles International Airport last month.
Ling faces a $US250 fine for trying to take free-of-charge $US16.22 worth of items, said city attorney spokesman, Frank Mateljan.
Her arraignment was scheduled for tomorrow, when Ling can contest the misdemeanor infraction or pay the fine, Mateljan said.
Ling, who has appeared in films including ‘The Crow’ and ‘Anna and the King’, was arrested February 13 after she was allegedly caught shoplifting by a store employee, who summoned police.
The actress later told E! News that she was having an "emotionally crazy" day, because she and her boyfriend broke up right before Valentine’s Day.
