Bernie Mac Hospitalized With Pneumonia

August 3rd, 2008

Comedian Bernie Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia in Chicago his rep announced on Friday (August 1), but says he should be out soon.

The 50-year-old funny man has previously suffered from sarcoidosis – an “inflammation that produces tiny lumps of cells in various organs of the body,” according to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute -  although this has been in remission since 2005 and is unrelated to his current condition.

Mac’s publicist, Danica Smith, released a statement saying, “Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon.  We asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well.”

I’m glad to see that Bernie Mac is going to be alright, I’m not a fan of his comedy but whenever someone has pneumonia it can be very scary considering how dangerous the potential consequences can be.
