A stray shot from Bill Murray during the Outback Pro-Am at TPC Tampa Bay, Florida, on Friday (April 17) clocked Gayle DiMaggio on the head, resulting in a trip to the local hospital to receive stitches.
The Associated Press reports that DiMaggio, who lives on the course, was standing in her backyard watching the golf when Murray hooked a shot on the 9th hole, striking her in the left temple.
“He came over and laid down on the ground with me and he was very concerned, asking if I was OK,” she explained. “Once he knew I was OK and not seriously hurt, then he started joking with me, asking how many fingers he was holding up.”
DiMaggio told Murray that she only had one request after their chance encounter, asking him for an autographed copy of his golfing comedy Caddyshack when he dropped by Saturday to check up on her.
