Billy Ray Cyrus Apologizes For Seatbelt Mistake

February 13th, 2008

Billy Ray Cyrus and his popstar daughter Miley - both stars of Disney’s popular television series, ‘Hannah Montana’ - has offered an apology for a scene in their movie where they’re filmed not wearing seatbelts, which has drawn criticism for failing to set a good example for their fans.

ConsumerReports.org reports that the pair are seen "riding in the back seat of a Range Rover on the way to rehearsal for the concert tour.  Neither was wearing a seat belt."

The website presents US statistics relating to seat belts and road fatalities, revealing that "in about 55 percent of passenger vehicle fatalities in 2006 (the latest data available), the occupants were not wearing seat belts. Even worse, in the 13- to 15-year-old age group, that percentage climbs to 65 percent."

Cyrus has offered his apology for the scene in the 3-D movie, ‘Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour’, explaining to People.com, "We got caught up in the moment of filming, and we made a mistake and forgot to buckle our seatbelts. Seatbelt safety is extremely important."

Oh no! Billy Ray Cyrus wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. If the stupid magazine hadn’t made an issue of it, most kids wouldn’t even think about whether he was wearing a seatbelt. This doesn’t mean anything, It honestly isn’t even “news”. Go find a real story.
