Damon Albarn, frontman of British band Blur, has told a UK newspaper that a planned duet between himself and songstress Lily Allen didn’t happen saying that the collaboration "didn’t exactly go well".
Albarn, who hasn’t recorded with his band in almost four years, revealed that his record label thought the duet would be a good idea.
"She came down to my studio and she said normally she would just sit around and listen to a musician and come up with some ideas," Albarn says.
"I jumped on the piano and played some mad stuff and she just looked at me – it didn’t exactly go well."
He also said that there was no tension between them, even though things didn’t go to plan, saying, "She’s a talented kid but it was a bad idea."
Additionally, Albarn has discussed why his band has failed to reunite for a new album.
"I had dinner with the guys recently and it was a laugh, but there’s no way they want to work with me again – they all hate me," he says.
Albarn is currently working on a new album for his cartoon band, Gorillaz, but rules out a reformation for Blur, saying "a reunion is never going to happen."
