Despite reports in the tabloids and numerous gossip sites to the contrary, U2 frontman Bono has confirmed that he is not collaborating with the Spice Girls on any new material for their forthcoming best-of album.
The story appeared in the tabloids on October 1 claiming that the Spice Girls record label were "getting a bit jittery" about their Greatest Hits album, so enlisted Bono to pen some tracks.
Apparently, an ‘insider’ revealed that, "It might seem unusual with the Spice Girls pop roots and the much more rockier work of Bono, but it works."
"However," the source continues, "Bono’s involvement has lifted the whole camp, and he’s delighted to have been asked to add his experience."
Paul McGuiness, U2′s long-time manager, denied the rumor, saying, "We’re great fans of the Spice Girls, but rumors that Bono is to join them as a sixth member are sadly not true."
