Brandy’s Mom Responds To Kardashian Theft Claim

February 6th, 2008

In what is becoming a battle fought through the media, Sonja Norwood, mother of RnB singer Brandy, has released a statement regarding her lawsuit against reality television family the Kardashian’s, in which she alleges they ran up a bill of over US$120,000 on her credit card without her approval.

The lawsuit, issued by Norwood, alleges that Kim Kardashian had access to her American Express card and was authorized to make one purchase, but instead allowed her family to buy additional items, including goods at the Kardashian family businesses, totally more than $120,000.

At the time, Kim was a stylist for Brandy and her brother Ray J. Kim and ray J later dated, and the couple appeared in the now-infamous sex tape that circulated online.

The Kardashian family released a statement denying the claims, saying that they look forward "to proving the absurdity of these claims in a court of law".

Norwood has now responded to the family’s comments by releasing a statement saying, "I did not want to commence litigation against the Kardashian family without conducting an exhaustive investigation into the charges and discussing all options, including criminal prosecution, with my family.

"After Ray J and Brandy urged me not to file criminal charges because of their prior friendship, I decided to afford the Kardashians an opportunity to resolve this matter without a lawsuit. When the fraudulent charges were brought to their attention, they apologized profusely, and advised us, through their attorneys, that they would pay the debt in full. However, they have since reneged on that promise."

Norwood stated that her investigation of the Kardashian family’s transactions revealed that they had "used their two stores, and other stores that I have never visited, to take advantage of me. I very much look forward to having the Kardashian’s account for their misconduct in a court of law."
