Break-in Scam: Ohio Police Target SJP’s Surrogate

June 18th, 2009

Two Ohio police chiefs are reportedly under investigation, over a plot to break in to the home of the surrogate carrying twins for Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is reportedly looking into allegations that Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Chief Chad DoJack planned to break in to the surrogate’s home, in an attempt to dig up dirt that they hoped to sell to the tabloids.

Harrison County prosecutor Shawn Hervey told E! News that he had been appointed to oversee an incident in the town of Martins Ferry, however, he declined to say whether it concerned the surrogate plot, since he has yet to receive any paperwork.

Local station WTRF-TV reports that the unidentified surrogate no longer lives in the Martins Ferry residence.

“Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system,” Broderick’s publicist, Simon Hall, says in a statement to E! News.

“But because it’s a criminal investigation—we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer.”
