Troubled popstar Britney Spears has finally reached out for help to get her life back on track, according to TV talk show host Barbara Waters, who said that she had been contacted by Spears’ rep who confirmed that Britney is seeing a psychiatrist, and has re-established contact with her mother, Lynn.
Walters confirmed the news on her talk show ‘The View’, saying that she was contacted directly by Britney Spears’ friend and manager, Sam Lutfi with the news.
Spears has stayed in the headlines recently due to her ongoing child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, and her ongoing strange behaviour, including switching randomly into a British accent, befriending paparazzi, and shaving her head in clear view of waiting photographers.
Walters said she had spoken to Lutfi over the phone, with Walters saying, "I don’t know if anybody is telling the truth or not telling the truth. He [Lutfi] has been with her constantly. He seems to be enormously supportive."
Walters stated that Spears is seeking medical advice for "mental issues which are treatable", and that "she has been to a psychiatrist. She, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."
Spears has been ordered by the court to seek medical treatment before she will be permitted to spend anytime with her two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston, with full custody having being awarded to Federline after the 26-year-old singer’s meltdown on January 3 at her Beverly Hills home.
