Cameron Diaz Writes Message To Journalists

April 27th, 2008

A personal letter from Cameron Diaz was handed out to members of the press on Saturday (April 26), with the star apologizing for her absence from the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie and offering her thanks for support following the recent death of her father.

The actress’ father, Emilio Diaz, passed away last week at 58 years of age after a brief bout of pneumonia.

Diaz’s co-star in the new movie ‘What Happens In Vegas’, Ashton Kutcher, helped hand out the letters, which were written by the actress on her own stationery.

"First of all I want to thank all of you for your support over the years," she wrote.  I was really looking forward to thus weekend getting to talk to my friends about a film I am so proud of… [due to] the loss of my Father, I have chosen to be with my family this weekend," she wrote.

"It was important to me to convey to all of you how much I love this film."

Diaz also explains that, "This weekend I am screening ‘What Happens In Vegas’ for my family.  It was a unanimous decision that we all needed to share a good laugh.  After all that’s why we make films like these.  So people can leave behind their worries for a couple of hours.  Have a good laugh."
