Australian superstars Cate Blanchett and Hugh Jackman have stolen the limelight at Australia’s ‘20/20′ summit, where some of the country’s brightest minds have gathered to discuss the future of their home country.
The two actors joined 998 other Australians, along with their Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, in the nation’s capital Canberra, to offer suggestions about where they want Australia to be in the year 2020.
When questioned by the media about her involvement in the summit, Blanchett - who gave birth just six days ago - said, "It’s a beginning, I believe really strongly, of a long and meaningful relationship between artists and the government, not as an adjunct to, but as a fundamental aspect of, society."
Jackman, who spoke with local media (via Reuters) said, "(By 2020 we should have) a really vibrant artistic community that is leading the world, something that is one of the main focuses of Australians, internationally, that we’re really proud of."
