The divorce trial of Christie Brinkley and her ex-husband Peter Cook kicked off Wednesday (July 2) in New York, with the former supermodel revealing she “heard alot of new things I didn’t know.”
Brinkley was accompanied by her lawyer, Robert Stephan Cohan, during the proceedings.
She looked upset as she gave a brief statement at Suffolk County Supreme Court in Central Islip, N.Y., saying, “I need some time to let it all absorb,” after the first day of the trial.
Cook is alleged to have a US$3,000 per month internet porn fetish, and admits that he had an affair with an 18-year-old employee, the court heard.
The pair are fighting over custody of their children, Jack, 13 and Sailor, 10.
Cook’s attorney, Norman Sheresky, explained his client’s tears on the witness stand during intense questioning from attorneys, saying, “All you’ve got to do is mention Peter’s children… He loves his kids. This is one of the best fathers you’ll ever meet.”
After Cook and his former mistress, Diana Bianchi - now 21 - testified about intimate details of their affair, Brinkley’s adult daughter with ex-husband Billy Joel, Alexa Ray, took the stand and spoke of constant criticism from Cook.
The divorce trial continues.
