February 6th, 2010

Christopher Meloni - NBC 2Christopher Meloni has dropped a bombshell on fans of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, he plans to call it a day at the end of season 12. Sound the gavel!!

Christopher Meloni - NBC 2“I think 12 years is enough, a good number,” Meloni, who plays Detective Elliot Stabler on the show, told Australia’s Courier Mail.  “The writers will have fertile ground to figure out how to arc him out to another place – whether it’s this world or the next.”

However, his co-star Marishka Hargitay says she’s not going anywhere just yet.

“It’s been proven over and over to me that this (role) is the right thing for me to still be here,” the actress explains.

Phew!

Not surprising to find Christoper Meloni wanting to vacate the series. I'm sure he's wanting to move on to other roles.
I'm wondering if Wolf is priming anyone else currently in the cast for the lead roll ? He seems to have been giving
Ice Tea meatier rolls of late—-could he be slated for the Meloni slot ? While on the subject of cast members, what
in the world are they doing with Richard Belzer ? Other than a handful of dower, ascerbic lines per show, he seems
only to be there to fill out a cast head count. Richard B. has far more depth and ability than is currently seen. If in doubt,
go back to old episodes of Homicide. All in all, it's still a great show, although I miss other versions, specificly
Criminal Intent. What's become of Vincent D. ? It seems as though he was drummed out of the Wolf Pack for
something or another. Any clue as to why ?
