Clay Aiken Splits With Record Label: Confirmed

February 21st, 2009

A rep for Clay Aiken has confirmed rumors that he has split with his record company RCA, after contract negotiations fell through.

Billboard reported Friday that the former ‘American Idol’ runner-up was dropped by his label, with RCA removing photos of the singer from their official website.

“We were unable to come to terms in a recent contract negotiation, and decided that it was best to move on,” Aiken’s rep, Cindi Berger, explained.

During an interview with PEOPLE in December, Aiken expressed a desire to spend more time with his newborn son Parker saying, “He’s still uber-dependant.  I’m ready for him to start talking.  I’m ready for a little action!”

Thank you for reporting the correct story.
Yes, Clay and RCA parted. He was NOT dropped.

Thank you for getting it right.

Right. Why would a record company drop an “artist” who made it sooooo much money? After all, Aiken sold a ginormous 159,000 copies of his last CD – almost enough to cover the cost of making them…LOL!! I’m surprised RCA kept Clay Aiken as long as it did. No matter what Team Clay says, what REALLY happened is Aiken was DROPPED. The Claymates need to face reality. HAHA
