Coldplay Song Hits 2 Million Downloads

May 6th, 2008

Coldplay’s new song ‘Violet Hill’, which the band gave away for one week via their official website, has been downloaded over 2 million times according to their spokesman.

Fans crashed the British group’s website following it’s release last Tuesday, with a rep for Coldplay telling the BBC that the demand was "staggering."

The spokesman added that the volume of downloads would have seen the band outsell the entire U.K. top 40 singles four times over.

Coldplay’s new album, ‘Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends’, comes out in June.
