Colin Farrell Describes New Role As Painful Honor

February 21st, 2008

Colin Farrell has spoken about his role in the unfinished Heath Ledger film, ‘The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus’ – which was mid-way through shooting when the young Australian actor died in January – saying that taking on part of Ledger’s role is "an incredibly painful honor to have".

Speaking of his new role to Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Farrell said, "I will be honored to be part of that", along with Johnny Depp and Jude Law, who have all signed on to play various incarnations of Ledger’s character.

"It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much and to get into it really here, but it’s an incredibly painful honour to have, you know, and an honour I wish wasn’t bestowed, but an honour none-the-less."

Farrell adds, "It’s about getting Heath’s work out there, get his work out there, he’s too good for any of his work not to be seen, you know, and I’m really keen and looking forward to doing it and just doing the best job I can do."

The actor confirmed that he’s yet to start filming the role and is unsure of what his part will be, however, it’s believed he will take over Ledger’s part when his character walks through a mirror into an alternative dimension.
