Confirmed: Mel Gibson Not Doing The Hangover 2

October 21st, 2010

It’s the cameo that will never be.  After much hoopla was made about Mel Gibson popping up in a potential career resurrecting cameo in The Hangover 2, director Todd Phillips has announced that the decision to cast the controversial star didn’t go over well with everyone and he’s role has been pulled.

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team,” Phillips said in a statement Thursday (October 22).  “But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
No details on who exactly opposed the casting of the embattled star, however, Zach Galifinakis recently revealed during an interview that he’s “in a deep protest right now with a movie I’m working on, up in arms about something. But I can’t get the guys to [listen] … I’m not making any leeway.”
We wouldn’t want to be the ones making that phonecall to Gibson!
