One of CNN’s most popular reporters, Richard Quest, hs been ordered to undergo six months of drug counseling following his arrest in New York’s Central Park on Friday night, where he admitted to possessing the drug meth.
The 46-year-old was arrested at around 3:40am inside the park, which is closed to the public after 1am, when he told police that "I’ve got some meth in my pocket."
Alan Abramson, Quest’s lawyer, explained that, "Mr. Quest did not realize that the park had a curfew and was returning to his hotel with friends."
State Court Judge Anthony Ferrara handed down the orders to Quest, who hosts his own program called ‘Quest’ along with ‘CNN Business Traveler’ for the network.
No official statement has been released by Quest or CNN at the time of reporting.
