Daniel Radcliffe has squashed an Australian girl’s hopes of a romance, after the actor revealed that he was only joking when he told an Aussie reporter that he wished to meet up with the mysterious local girl he’d briefly met while in town.
Reports surfaced in Sydney, Australia and spread around the world within hours, after the Daily Telegraph published a story about Radcliffe, in which he expressed a desire to meet up with a mystery local girl he met briefly in Melbourne.
However, Radcliffe’s London-based representative, Vanessa Davies, has told New York’s Daily News newspaper that the actor was only joking when he made the remarks.
"(Radcliffe’s comments) were meant in jest, but sadly been blown out of all proportion," Davies said.
Radcliffe, 19, had told the Sydney newspaper how he had a brief interlude with a "brilliant" Australian woman at the AFI Awards.
"There was one girl there, oh, my God, she had these eyes that just looked at me like she wanted to pounce on me," Radcliffe said.
The mystery lady turned out to be Cassi McKay, a 20-year-old blonde Sydneysider, who came forward to say she was the woman Radcliffe was talking about. Despite having a boyfriend of two years, she has said that she would like to catch up with Radcliffe during a planned trip to Britain later this year.
Another Australian girl, 23-year-old Savannah Blount from Melbourne, has also come forward claiming that she was the girl in question.
