Dave Matthews Pays Tribute To Late Sax Player

August 20th, 2008

Dave Matthews paid tribute to late saxophonist LeRoi Moore during Tuesday (August 19) nights concert in Los Angeles, after he unexpectedly died earlier in the day following complications from a vehicle accident in June.

The rocker said, “We all had some bad news today. Our good friend LeRoi Moore passed on and gave his ghost up today and we will miss him forever.”

Moore, 46, returned to hospital due to complications last month after an all-terrain vehicle accident on June 30 which resulted in a punctured lung and broken ribs.

The band posted the following message on their official website.

“We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”
