David Duchovny has entered a treatment facility for an addiction to sex, the ‘X-Files’ star announced on Thursday (August 28).

The 48-year-old, who currently stars as an oversexed writer in the hit series ‘Californication,’ released a statement via his lawyer Stanton ‘Larry’ Stein.

“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,” Duchovny says.  “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”
