David Spade Not Apologizing For Chris Farley Commercial

October 29th, 2009

David Spade has tackled criticism about this new television commercial, that stars himself and uses footage of the late Chris Farley, head on saying that the comedian would “be stoked” to be involved.

The advertisement for Direct TV, features Farley doing his “Fat Boy in a Little Coat” routine from the 1995 movie Tommy Boy.

“Oh, my God if he was here, I guarantee he’d be stoked that this little movie is included,” Spade tells PEOPLE.  “The movie is important to me, and I would hate to offend [anyone] because that’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever done. So I would apologize to someone who took it that way.”

Spade adds, “These commercials are cool. They’re well done. They’re clever. And that they would include Tommy Boy in that company, I thought was very flattering.”

Great commercial. Spade was Farley's best friend-he wouldn't do anything to hurt his memory or use him. Maybe garner more interest in a really good movie!

Maybe Directv should start talking to (Lohan's, Winehouse's) people now – I mean that opportunity has to be coming up soon.
