The Executive Director of the Oscars broadcast on Sunday night (March 7) has spoken out about why Farrah Fawcett was left out of the “In Memorium” tribute.
Bruce Davis explained to The Associated Press on Tuesday that Fawcett was better known for her “remarkable television work,” and that the reason she was omitted was due to “an unusual number of extremely distinguished screenwriters” who passed away in the last 12 months.
“In every category, you’re going to miss some wonderful people,” he added.
Fawcett’s daughter, Tatum O’Neal released the following statement:
“On behalf of myself, my father Ryan O’Neal and my entire family, we are deeply saddened that a truly beautiful and talented actress Farrah Fawcett was not included in the memorial montage during the 82ND ACADEMY AWARDS. We are bereft with this exclusion of such an international icon who inspired so many for so many reasons. Beautiful, talented Farrah will never be forgotten by her family and amazing fans.”

She was an amazing actress and I cant believe no one has posted a blog! I just watched the burning bed the other night again and she was stunning. You believed the pain and abuse she had endured! She was an absolutely beautiful, talented, unforettable woman! My heart goes out to her family. The loss of a loved one is hard enough, without people forgetting to acknowledge what an inspiration this woman was to everyone she knew!

I totally agree with you Cheryl. Bad enough when she died there was hardly no TV coverage….all you ever seen was MICHAEL JACKSON and still do. Don't get me wrong…I loved Michael and his music….but Farrah deserved so much more. We love you Farrah. RIP
