DJ AM’s First Interview: I’m The Luckiest Man Alive

October 16th, 2008

DJ AM has conducted his first interview since surviving a plane crash that killed four people and seriously injured drummer Travis Barker, saying that he feels like “the luckiest man alive”. DJ AM – whose real name is Adam Goldstein – talked to People magazine about the terrifying moments before the Learjet in which they were travelling crashed during takeoff at a Columbia, S.C., airport.

“I tried to cover my face as I jumped through a fireball. As soon as I hit the ground, I remembered, ‘Stop, drop and roll.’ So I started rolling,” he said.

Goldstein, 35, is recovering from a series of three surgeries to treat his second- and third-degree burns.

“My emotions go back and forth,” he says. “I can’t believe I made it. I’m just grateful.”
