DMX House Raided, Not Charged

August 25th, 2007

DMX had his property in Arizona raided by the Maricopa County sheriff’s office on Friday (August 24) after someone tipped off authorities that the rapper was keeping dogs in poor conditions.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio told MTV News that the dogs "weren’t getting proper food, they weren’t getting proper water, and they were tied outside in 115-degree heat," at the rapper’s house in Cave Creek.

Twelve poorly-cared for pit bulls were removed from the house with the charred remains of one dog also being recovered, as police continue their investigation into the treatment of the animals and potential illegal dog fighting.

Stacey Richman, DMX’s attorney stated that, "he loves and lives for his animals" and that he "has caretakers for his homes and especially for his animals.  The caretaker was only coming in once a day.  Of course, that was not the arrangement."

Police also uncovered a large cache of weapons on the property, and the latest reports from KSAZ-TV in Phoenix claim that "drug paraphernalia" was found  aswell as a "lot of cars that don’t match the license plates".

Richman also stated that DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, hasn’t been at the property for several months due to his touring commitments.

Police are yet to lay any charges.
