Drew Barrymore announced that she is donating $1 million to the United Nations World Food Programme, in aid of starving children in Africa, during an appearance on Oprah’s new show on Sunday night (March 2).
The 33-year-old star, who became an Abassador Against Hunger last year, has witnessed first hand the change that donations can make to the lives of starving children.
"I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child’s life," the actress explained announcing her donation. "It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future."
Oprah’s new show, called ‘Oprah’s Big Give’, debuted on Sunday night and encourages people to donate to charity.
