Fall Out Boy are attmepting to break a world record to be the first band to play a concert on all seven continents in less than nine months, however, bad weather is preventing them from playing their final gig in Antartica.
The band had hoped to play their final record breaking show on Tuesday (March 25) in a gymnasium located on the southern continent, but are unable to reach their location due to bad weather.
Band member Pete Wentz is documenting their troubles reaching their destination.
"So here we are stuck in a hotel ironically called ‘The End of the World’ hotel," Wentz wrote on the band’s official website.
"In our attempt to get to Antartica today the weather decided to get in the way. The weather here changes nearly every hour and it can become impossible to land in Antartica… We’ve heard stories of low fog and all kinds of wildlife on the ‘runway’ (using this term very lightly) over there. We’ll see."
Fall Out Boy are filming their adventure for a special highlighting global warming issues, to air on MTV later this year – if they can actually get to Antartica.
"It is so frustrating being this close to our goal and currently unable to get there," Wentz wrote on Wednesday.
"Our destination in Antartica is a mere three miles away and due to current weather we can’t get a flight there."
He continues, "We are gonna stick it out and see what tommorrow brings. Cross your fingers for us."
