Fall Out Boy have been forced to cancel their record-breaking concert in Antarctica, after bad weather prevented the band from making the final journey in their nine-month tour.
The group had planned on entering the Guiness Book Of World Records by becoming the first band to perform on all seven continents in under nine months, with Antarctica scheduled as their final show.
Earlier this week bad weather prevented the band from touching down at Antarctica, and they were given a one percent chance of the weather becoming fine. Despite having a Hercules aircraft on standby, Fall Out Boy were forced to make the tough decision to cancel the gig when the weather failed to clear.
"It’s an utter f**king disappointment," bassist Pete Wentz explained to MTV.
"It’s so insane. We had this idea, and then to not be able to fulfill it is just disappointing, especially when you put it out there. But what are you gonna do, wait until winter’s over? It’s the worst feeling I’ve felt in Fall Out Boy, [we were,] like, two hours away from being able to do it."
According to Craig Glenday, editor in chief of the ‘Guiness Book of World Records’, all is not lost.
"They’re still setting the record [for playing in all seven continents]," he said. "It’s whenever they make it down here. It can happen whenever. They’ve just got to make it down to Antarctica."
