Fall Out Boy To Break World Record

March 19th, 2008

Rock band Fall Out Boy are set to break a world record when they become the first band ever to play a concert on all seven continents in less than nine months, once they play Antartica on March 25.

The bands management team, Crush, has announced that Pete Wentz and company will board a flight in Southern Chile for a 90-minute flight to Antartica’s Fildes Peninsula where they will play in a gymnasium located at the Base Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva research facility, with MTV documenting the experience.

Wentz explained the adventure to MTV News saying, "Well, I was just sitting around and wrote [FOB's manager] Bob [McLynn] an e-mail saying, ‘Let’s be the first band to go to all five continents’ — only he wrote wrote me back, ‘There are seven.’  Since then we have been working on it. Lately it’s kind of gone into overdrive though, because after this flight to Antarctica there really aren’t any other ones we could get on until winter ends. And yes, we’ll be seeing penguins."

The Fall Out Boy bassist and songwriter hinted at something big for the band earlier this month when he wrote on their website "I have been working on something that i think will prove to be one of my most insane ideas ever. the problem is I only have 3 weeks to get it ready."

Additionally the band will be working with Greenpeace to highlight global warming issues during their trip to the southern continent.
