Travis Barker and Adam ‘DJ-AM’ Goldstein are expected to make a full recovery following their plane crash on Friday night (September 19), with their doctor saying, “Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.”
Dr. Fred Mullins from the Joseph M. Still Center in Augusta, Georgia, told media at a press conference on Sunday morning that Barker had sustained burns on his torso and lower body and Goldstein has burns to his head and arm. Both are listed as “critical but stable.”
“I think these patients are going to make a full recovery,” Dr. Mullins explained. “Anybody who can survive a plane crash is very lucky.”
Four passengers, including Barker’s assistant and security guard, died in the accident at South Carolina’s Columbia Metro Airport shortly before midnight Friday.
“The families wish to thank fans all over the world for their prayers and concern,” Mullins added. “Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families and friends is requested at this time.”
The National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson, Debbie Hersman, said at a separate press conference that the planes cockpit voice recorder had been recovered.
According to Hersman, the pilots informed air traffic controllers they heard a tire burst and were going to abort the take-off, however, she said the crash was still under investigation.
