Everything old is new again in Hollywood, with confirmation that a movie version of the eighties tv classic ‘The Greatest American Hero’ is in the development stages.
The show ran for 3 seasons from 1981-83 and starred William Katt as Ralph Hinkley,a teacher who finds a red suit that has superpowers but no instruction manual.
Stephen J. Cannell, the creator of the cult series, revealed at a recent panel discussion, ”We’ve written a screenplay, and we’ve hired a director, and we’re in the midst of putting this together for the future.”
Cannell also said that the original cast will be “absolutely guaranteed” of a role in the new film.
”I took a sneak peek at the [feature] script, and it’s absolutely charming and wonderful,” Katt explained. ”I know people are going to love it.”
