Gwyneth Paltrow Apologizes For Wearing Fur

November 20th, 2008

Gwyneth Paltrow drew the ire of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) earlier this year when she appeared in a campaign for Tod’s wearing a fur stole, something the actress has now apologized for.

“That was awkward,” Paltrow told PETA’s senior vice president.  “And I’m glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all.

“It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes—none with fur. During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulders. I didn’t pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur I assumed it was fake fur but did not ask, so it’s my fault.

She continues, “I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod’s ads. I know it’s not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.”

Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, are vegetarians who enjoy a macrobiotic diet consisting of grains, vegetables and beans and avoid processed or refined foods.

Why does anyone need to apologize for wearing anything! Just because some people are against it doesn’t mean we all have to be force to accept or condone their beliefs. If we did, then we are in effect surrendering our God given right to free-choice.

I love fur and will always wear fur when colder weather comes upon us. I for one, am proud of supporting the fur industry and love fur. I enjoy eating venison, rabbit stew, a great beef steak, a wonderful mint encrusted leg of lamb, roast turkey during Thanksgiving and Christmas and roast chicken. I wear leather, mink, sable, lynx, fox furs. I’ll be damned if anyone has that right to tell me to do otherwise. I support research towards all cures for mankind - contribute to the millions of starving children in the world through organizations who are not related to terrorists or support anti-choice activities. PETA is an organization run by overzealous thugs and crazy activists who have had one too many carrots in their diets turning their brains to mush. BEWARE PETA activists your days of terrorizing victims who are afraid to fight back are over! I will throw lard in the faces of any PETA activists who dare to attempt to confront me about my choices in life. Stop terrorizing women, children and any one weaker than yourselves. FUR is organic FUR is warm FUR is beautiful! All power to Anti-PETA activists. My cash contributions will be coming your way. We have to do all we can to counter the invasive and objectionable behaviour of PETA’s brain-washed psychos’.
