Gwyneth Paltrow Upsets Animal Activists

August 18th, 2008

Gwyneth Paltrow has upset various animal rights groups over a new campaign for an Italian designer promoting jackets lined with fox fur.

The actress features in photos for the clothing company Tod’s, who use animals such as ostrich and snakeskin in it’s lines.

“Gwyneth Paltrow won’t be the apple of her daughter’s eye if she continues to flaunt fur,” People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said in a statement.

“It’s a terrible example to set for a young child, promoting an industry that electrocutes animals, snaps their necks and skins them alive.”

Tony Wardle from the vegetarian group Viva! added, “There is nothing feminine about inserting an electrode into the anus of a terrified and struggling fox and then electrocuting it. Ms Paltrow is an actress – and seemingly a particularly stupid one at that.”

No comment has been made from Paltrow’s camp at the time of writing.
