Will Smith’s superhero film ‘Hancock’ has hit the Fourth of July holiday weekend with a bang, taking US$41.3 million in box office sales already - putting the flick well on track to earn US$100 million domestically by Sunday.
The action movie grossed an estimated US$17.1 million on Thursday (July 3), following almost US$17.4 million in box office takings on its first official day in release in 3,965 locations on Wednesday, and US$6.8 million from 3,680 “preview” screenings on Tuesday night.
It is anticipated that the film, which also stars Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman, will gross at least US$100 million in ticket sales across the whole weekend period.
