Hugh Jackman turned his hand at producing for his latest film, ‘Deception’, and admits that starring in an producing was a tough balancing act, saying that producing “didn’t come naturally to me”.
‘Deception’ is the first feature film produced by Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, and their business partner, John Palermo, under the banner of Seed Productions.
"I have always been interested in the long term. With this film I had a lot to learn… Because we made it outside the studio system, we had a lot of rope," Jackman says.
"Sometimes I had to be a bit of a heavy… how do you say to a director I didn’t really like that scene? It didn’t come naturally to me."
‘Deception’ – a thriller shot in New York on a “modest” US$20million budget – co-stars Michelle Williams and Ewan McGregor, and is released this Friday.
Next, Jackman’s production team will work on the blockbuster film ‘Wolverine’, the X-Men spin-off, which will be co-produced by 20th Century Fox and is currently filming in Sydney.
Jackman admits that Seed Productions’ first foray into to producing was a "spectacular" failure, with their television series, ‘Viva Laughlin’, axed from CBS in October after just two episodes.
