Legendary film and television star David Carradine has reportedly committed suicide, after police state that a maid found the 72-year-old’s naked body hanging in a wardrobe in his Bangkok hotel.
Friends and family of the actor, who starred in the hit tv series Kung Fu and Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies, have paid their respects for the late actor.
Martha Plimpton, Carradine’s niece, said in a statement:
“My Uncle David was a brilliantly talented, fiercely intelligent and generous man. He was the nexus of our family in so many ways, and drew us together and kept us connected. I adored him as a child and as an adult I admired and respected him We will all miss him terribly, and are so grateful for everyone’s condolences.”
Director Adam Rifkin, who worked with Carradine in National Lampoon’s Homoerectus, refuses to believe that the iconic star took his own life.
“More than anyone I have ever met, David Carradine was a generous man who loved life… Literally, everything was fun to him,” he says. “I find it extremely hard to believe that David — who was such a hard-working, energetic and beloved Hollywood legend — was done in by his own hand.”
Carradine’s rep, Chuck Binder, also has his doubts saying, “It’s all under police investigation. We definitely don’t believe it was a suicide.”
