Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman is still raising the ire of Apple consumers, after more people came forward claiming that he cut in line to buy the new iPhone 4 last week. To be fair, he didn’t exactly cut in line: “The Apple guy brought me in away from the paparazzi. Period,” Bateman – who arrived at the store at 4.45am, and was pulled out of line at 10am – tweeted today. “I was content in line. I wish I’d stayed.”
Bateman didn’t ask to be given preferential treatment and had been happily waiting in line for over five hours, but other iPhone buyers are annoyed that he didn’t stay in line and wait his turn like everyone else.
One witness, Angela Mayhew, reports to Us magazine that there was a chorus of boos and chants when the Apple employee led Bateman away from the line and inside to purchase the phone, as other people had been lining up since 3.30am.
The Los Angeles-based actor tweeted, “There wasn’t one boo. Not one hiss,” adding, “Correction – If there were boos, I didn’t hear them. If some were mad, I didn’t see them. I wish I had. If you’re out there, I’m sorry.”
