Jay-Z replied to criticisms by Oasis band-member Noel Gallagher, by performing ‘Wonderwall’ as his opening song during his Glastonbury show on Saturday (June 28). Watch the video here on The Celebrity Truth.
The rocker spoke out about the organizer’s choice to bring hip-hop to the festival, telling the BBC earlier this year that, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.”
Gallagher added, “Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
However, Jay-Z’s set has been praised with organizer’s telling NME that “It worked really well, it was an unusual thing to do, bring hip-hop from the streets of New York to Glastonbury and it be so successful, it was a real triumph… We got a text from [Coldplay's] Chris Martin saying he watched it all on the website in America, he was really thrilled, he said it was ‘absolutely brilliant’.”
