Jeff Goldblum Quits Law & Order: Criminal Intent

August 3rd, 2010

Jeff Goldblum’s rep has announced that the quirky actor has quit Law & Order: Criminal Intent after just two seasons, as his contract was up and he decided not to re-sign – citing uncertainty “surrounding the show’s future.” No replacement has yet been announced.

Variety reported today that Goldblum’s contract was up and, according to his rep, he decided to walk away from the series rather than renegotiate a new contract.

Criminal Intent is one of several branches of Dick Wolf’s crime-procedural Law & Order syndicate, but the USA network hasn’t yet decided on whether or not to order up a 10th season of the series.

Last spring the original in the series, Law & Order, was canceled, although the highly-successful SVU is currently in production.

Work is also underway on a new series, Law & Order: Los Angeles, which stars Skeet Ulrich, Alfred Molina and Terrence Howard.

  2. Kelly Says:

Yes, bring back Goren and Eames. No offense but Goldblum and Saffron pretty much of the way suck. It used to be one of my favorite shows, but now with them….not.

  3. Barbara Aybar Says:

I enjoyed watching Jeff,he's always been a favorite for mine, but I agree with the other comments, bring bach Goran & Eames…I miss them.

  4. mzry hoppins Says:

  5. Daley Says:

  6. BelleSouth Says:

Canb't blame him. If the networks would quit moving shows around and trying to pit shows against others of the same caliber, maybe wecould find them and watch them on a regular basis. Ya can't watch what ya can't find!

  9. ray Says:

Love Goren!!! Love Jeff, too just not in law & Order. I have never been able to really accept him in this role. Please bring the old cast back- Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erby. they were great!!!!

  10. Jesse Says:

I agree with you, BelleSouth: USA and NBC seemed to air this show on a different day and at a different time every week; it was almost impossible to catch. The network programming geniuses might consider establishing a *regular* day and time for this great program if they want to build the audience!

  11. Bob Says:

If you want a great series with top ratings: 1) Bring back original Detectives Goran and Eames 2) Get back to the early show years of great stories….. Don't get into stories of their personal lives,it got unwatchable. 3) Stay on the same night and time on the major network. If I did not have a DVR I doubt I would have seen one new program this season.

  12. Starquilter Says:

I think Jeff made the show worth watching…the emale partner was not worth a lot of attention…but Jeff really was wonderful….guess I will hope to see him in soemthing else soon

  13. Toffie Says:

I thought Jeff Goldblum was the worst actor I have ever seen in this series or for that matter any of the Law and Order series. His performancde was not credible…he ran the gammut of emotions from A to B and he sounded like he was reading his lines from cue cards. His acting was so painful that my friends and I (first time ever) changed the channel. I rarely criticize an actor but he was so terrible in that series I could not be silent. I think he should have been fired if he did not resign.

  14. bABE Says:

i i LIKE jEFF GOLDBRUM, BUT THIS WAS NOT HIS TYPE OF ROLE – i ONLY WATCH RERUNS OF gORAN AND eAMES – pLEASE BRING BACK DONOFRIO AND ERBY

  15. Linda Says:

I agree, I didn't like Goldblum in it any way, he was boring and predictable. I've liked him in a whole lot of moveis. They just kinda ended Goran and Eames on a bad note, after all the good work they have done over the years.

  16. nilda Says:

PLS, PLS BRING BACK GOREN AND EAMES…THEY ARE IRREPLACEABLE! THE SHOW'S RATINGS WOULD SOAR..

  17. Betty Says:

I agree. I'll even accept Chris Noth returning too…..but bring back Vince and Kathryn…..nobody does it better!!

  18. Wiley Says:

Jeff could use this comment: REDUNDANT, which is what all these L&W's are!! Bring back his slightly-psychic. no sidekick series, which crime "drama' junkies don't "get"…

  19. Deb Hendrickson Says:

I agree. I really liked Jeff in this series and his female partner got better with each show. I just saw him in Switch and thought he did a great job also. I guess I am a die-hard fan of his. I am disappointed he's not coming back to L & A. Of course, Goran and Eames are undoubtedly the best of all the L & A series – in my opinion.

  20. Von Says:

Jeff sucked! i dont know how people liked him in the series after Goren & Eames left! He was awful! And the other supporting actors sucked too! Especially the ugly Captain lady that replaced Bogosian.

  21. charlotte Says:

cast change,,,cancellations,,,oops nope new shows,,,OMG im so confused,,WTF!!!
