Jennifer Hudson opens up to VH1′s Behind the Music and talks about the tragedy that rocked her world in October 2008, when her mother, older brother and 7-year-old nephew were murdered by her estranged brother-in-law.

The new special will focus on her rise to fame following her stint on American Idol and features interviews with Whiteny Houston, Jamie Foxx and AI judge Randy Jackson amongst others.

Hudson also confirms that she’s in the process of recording the follow up to her 2008 self-titled album.

The Behind the Music special airs this Monday onVh1 in the US.
