Jim Carrey has discussed his romantic side with Oprah during an appearance on her talk show – but stopped short of repeating Tom Cruise’s infamous sofa jumping display.

In an interview taped on Valentine’s Day at Harpo studios in Chicago, Oprah asked the funny-man what he planned on doing to celebrate the day with his girlfriend, comedian Jenny McCarthy.

"We’re just going to go anywhere she ever existed," he said about his Chicago-raised love.

"That’s what we’ve been doing so far, so we’re going to continue to do that.

"We’re going to go where she had her first kiss, and travel around and see all those places that were near and dear to her, and I’m going to put my scent all over them!"

He adds, "So it will never be the same for her… it’s really wonderful, she’s wonderful and I’m very in love, but I’m not going to jump up and down on your couch. I’m jumping up and down inside, though."
