Jimmy Fallon Graduates From College

May 11th, 2009

Late Night talk show host Jimmy Fallon has received his bachelor’s degree in communications, from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY – almost 15 years after dropping out of the school with just one semester remaining.

The former Saturday Night Live star had attended the college from 1992-1995, but he dropped just one semester shy of graduating to pursue a comedy career in LA.

In order to graduate, Fallon, 34, had to present a portfolio of his work on film and television, to illustrate to college officials that he had fulfilled the college’s core curriculum through real-life experience, which satisfied remaining credits.

Fallon posted some messages on Twitter after the graduation ceremony, including a short tweet saying, “Congratulations to all graduates!!!” with a photo of his new degree.

He was one of 1,800 students to graduate Saturday (May 9), and in addition to collecting his bachelors degree, served as the keynote speaker.

“There’s always going to be someone out there like that movie critic, who doesn’t believe in you or who thinks your head is too big or you’re not smart enough,” Fallon told the graduates.

“But those are the people you need to ignore, and those are the times you need to just keep doing what you love doing.”
