Joaquin Phoenix: Really Saying “Bye! Good” To Hollywood

November 4th, 2008

Joaquin Phoenix is seriously quitting acting and attempting a career in music, almost making his point on Saturday night (November 1) when he was photographed holding out his knuckles with ‘Good Bye!’ written on them, except the wrong way around.

The ‘Walk the Line’ star made the announcement last week during an awkward interview with E! News and reiterated his decision to The Associated Press on the weekend.

“I think it’s just moving on,” Phoenix explained on the red carpet of his new film ‘Two Lovers’.  “It’s rediscovering something else.”

He added, “It’s like greener pastures, you know what I mean?  And so, I’m just going to try and like, I’ll just be doing the other thing… Hopefully, I will emotionally impact you with that, as well.”

The 34-year-old’s rep, Susan Patricola, explained in a statement to AP,  “He has said that `Two Lovers’ is his last. But this is not strange. Joaquin has been directing music videos and been involved in music for the last number of years.”
